I have now been in Vancouver for a week and a day. I've met my roommates, my graduate secretary, my office mates, and my advisor. I've gone grocery shopping (shockingly high prices), to the movies, and to the bank (more times than I'd like in one week). I've navigated the public transit system and explored the campus (in the rain). Now all I need to do is wait for classes to start on Tuesday, and boy am I ready.
Before my parents left on Sunday, we had a chance to visit Queen Elizabeth Park, which is about a ten minute drive from where I live. Even though it's getting cooler and rainy, there were still roses in the rose garden and many beautiful trees/plants to be seen. The view of the city from atop the hill is also spectacular.
I've also had the chance to settle into my apartment. It's very spacious and located in a great part of town. Here are a few pictures into my daily living space:
That's all for the moment. The weather for the Labor Day weekend is supposed to be sunny and warm, so I may go exploring and maybe visit Stanley Park or one of the many beaches in the area. More to come once classes start.
